Update from Maggie's
Just to highlight new things from the program and courses due to start soon:
Living with less stress is a six-week course we provide for anyone living with the impact of cancer. On this course they will be introduced to a variety of relaxation methods including breathing techniques, mindfulness, quick or emergency relaxation skills, controlling anxious thoughts, and visualisation. Next course starts on zoom, on Tuesday July 14th, 10:00 - 12:00pm.
Where Now? Our seven-week post cancer treatment course is starting on zoom on Wednesday July 14th, 2:00 - 4:30pm. This course focuses on emotional wellbeing, physical activity in daily life, healthy eating post treatment, and managing post-treatment challenges. As it is online it’s a great chance for anyone living in the more remote areas of the highlands to take part.
Exercise at Maggie's - we're really pleased to have movement classes restarting over the next two months. Due to social distancing these classes will need to by quite small so people must book to attend.
Chair Yoga: starts Wednesday July 14th, 12:00 - 1:00pm in the centre.
Walking Group: starts Thursday August 5th, 10:30 - 11:30am from the centre.
Exercise Class: starts Friday July 9th, 12:00 - 1:00pm at the centre.
Summer Holidays Kid's Days - Places limited so encourage people to book early.
We are offering two sessions during the holidays for primary school aged children. These sessions are particularly good for any children who are feeling troubled, overwhelmed, or anxious about a family member’s cancer.
Mindfulness - Thursday July 29th, 1:30 - 3:00pm
Storytelling with puppets - Thursday August 5th, 1:30 - 3:00pm
Gynae Network Group: we are relaunching this group on zoom, starting August 18th, 1:00 - 2:00pm, and continuing on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
