Ullapool Medical Practice Patient Participation Group (PPG) was formed in August 2013.  Doctors and staff at the Medical Practice are keen to work with patients to ensure that they are involved in the running of the Practice and the service we provide.  So far the group have been able to assist in various health promotions such as flu day, our Detect Cancer Early campaign and members also provided assistance at our recent Practice Open Day.

We are currently working on a couple of small projects.

Waiting Room - volunteers from the PPG are working on minimising clutter by arranging patient leaflets into a patient library and maintaining a PPG notice board.  The PPG also hope to be able to produce health campaign displays throughout the year.

Befriending Group – the PPG are currently in the process of assessing interest in the formation of a local befriending/support group to provide assistance and company for lonely or vulnerable members of the community.

We are also considering numerous other projects, but we are still in the process of getting to know each other and dealing with a variety of admin issues.

PPG meetings are open to anyone who is interested in attending.  We are constantly striving to gather patients from a broad spectrum of our community to get a truly representative sample (young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions/disabilities, and people from non-British ethnic groups.  If you think you might be interested or just want to find out some more about what we are doing, drop us an email or call in and ask for a member of the admin team.
